One Dollar Beach or Dollar Beach (Portuguese: Praia do Dólar, Tetum: Tasi-ibun Dolar) is a public beach on the north coast of East Timor, east north east of Dili, the capital city. It is long, white, sandy and clean, and also frequently deserted, yet popular with beach users at other times.

  • Timor Leste is a hard country to visit. It doesn't have the infrastructure needed to promote tourism. As a result, there are very few visitors to the country. The plus side for those that can visit is the beaches near the vicinity of Dili are never crowded. That's especially true for one dollar beach. The sand is white, the sunshine is warm, the crowds are absent, and the water is clear. Highly recommend.
  • The beach itself is a beautiful blue with lovely sand but the closer to the road you walk the sand turns dirty. There are toilet facilities but they are not for the faint of heart! There are high huts built along the beach (for whale watching?) and a thong shaped pool which has been neglected and has no water.
