Create an itinerary including Musee du debarquement
Located in front of the actual vestiges of the Mulberries, Musee du debarquement devotes its exhibits to the incredible feat of technology the British achieved in building the artificial harbor at this site. Watch the period newsreel in English and French. Impressive, dynamic scale models show how the floating docks rolled with the waves and tides. A 75-foot section of Mulberry floating bridge is on display outside. Military equipment is also on view, including an American half-track armored vehicle and a Higgins boat. • Unfortunately the visual displays seem to have a vast bias towards the American effort For a museum to be on gold beach which was liberated by the English and Canadians there is not a fair balance...

  • It's a small museum that provides you with an overview of the logistical challenges and achievements. A guide provides an explanation of the maquettes to explain what has happened. Big disappointment....  more

  • Fantastic. I was here just over an 90 minutes wish I had more time. It was quite busy during visit but still able to get round. The main theme is the construction and operation of the Mulberry harbours. Models uniforms exhibits film photos found it very informative intriguing and left admiring the men of the time, the soldiers engineers the planners and the people of Normandy. Recommend for every age.
  • Really cool but quite small museum, currently undergoing some much needed renovation! I was skeptical first walking into the museum, which looks and feels about as old as D-Day itself, but the quality of the exhibits and the amount I learned in such a short period of time really impressed me! Great for learning more about the Mulberry harbours, and a great collection of other pieces in outstanding condition. Also, some really cool models! Haven’t seen many of them in Normandy.
