Create an itinerary including Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie
One of the best on the topic, Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie has a good balance of explanations of the infamous D-Day battle and interesting artifacts both small and large. Outside the museum are four armored vehicles: a Sherman tank, a Crocodile tank trailer, and Marder and M-10 Hellcat tank destroyers. Inside are a self-propelled 105 mm howitzer, a Quad-50 caliber anti-aircraft "meat chopper," a radio truck, a bulldozer, and several other large items. • 💯 make this one of 2 things to see in Bayeux. Do this first park for free and walk into town Challenged by the walk through history. Lay out great and with the film being in English and then French just choose your time. Loved it is the wrong word. Helpfully educational...
  • You can get reduced combined tickets if you buy them with tickets for the tapestry and it is about a km away with free parking. The museum isn't huge but it's well thought out and taught me a lot about the battle. Especially about the action my father's cousin died in, and as I'd been crying like a baby by the graves of him and his friends earlier in the day it was poignant. If you have ever seen a WW2 movie this a good place to appreciate some reality and see the weapons used. And wonder if you could have done what they did.
