Create an itinerary including Neue Nationalgalerie
Neue Nationalgalerie, a museum of modern art, focuses on works from the 20th century. Before entering, take time to appreciate the iconic Modern building designed by German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Inside, study works by Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter, and Andy Warhol. Step outside to admire the sculpture gardens, also designed by van der Rohe. If you hope to see a particular work, avoid disappointment by checking online before your visit to ensure that it will be on display. Only a small selection of the gallery's extensive collection can be shown at one time. Make Neue Nationalgalerie a centerpiece of your Berlin vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Berlin tour planning tool.

  • Wonderful art museum with paintings mostly from the period 1920-1950. The sculptures are worth seeing.

  • we went here for a school trip and I really enjoyed glimpsing at all the beautiful paintings. the rooms are rather cold, so make sure to either go here in summer or wear a sweater! rooms, toilets and gallery are all clean, the staff also is really polite and friendly!
  • The place is nice and open, and the Alexander Calder instalation was beautifully put together. There is a possibility to interact with some chess boards, but we did not have the opportunity to because there was no information on where to get the pieces. The permanent collection has lots of prints, pictures, sculptures and an specific area about the museum itself. After visiting other main museums in town, this one seemed less gratifying.
