Visit the statues of Lenin, Marx, and Engels at Memento Park, an open-air museum dedicated to influential figures from the country's Communist period. Designed by Hungarian architect Akos Eleod, the park features 42 of the statues that were removed from the city after the fall of Communism. Check out a replica of Stalin's boots, which became a symbol of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 after the statue of Stalin was pulled down from its pedestal. Although located a distance from city center, the park is easily accessible via shuttle bus or public transportation from the downtown area. • Not what I expected but still very worthwhile and something that all visitors must see. Educational, thought provoking and historical. Tip: Get a taxi there (6500HUF) and ask them to pick you up...

  • Interesting to see and learn the history of Communism in Hungary.
  • Really accessible by public transport, taking the M4 metro and the 101B/E bus to the ‘Memento Park’ stop. I’d recommend travelling by public transport to further embrace yourself in Magyar culture 🇮🇹 The price for entry was Ft1,800 for an adult and Ft1,200 for a student. Not a lot at all, especially when there are toilet facilities there. I’ve got to say, these are the best toilets in Budapest!! Odd claim to fame, I know… but I mean it. Ultra-clean and super shiny. Overall, we really enjoyed our poignant experience at Memento Park.
