A strip of gardens that line the lakeshore on the Bellagio peninsula, I Giardini di Villa Melzi is a manicured landscape that was once the playground of Francesco Melzi d'Eril, duke of Lodi and the vice president of the Italian Republic in the early 19th century. The Neoclassical villa and chapel set off the colors of the garden. A greenhouse, called the orangery, is home to a collection of artifacts from the Napoleonic period and other rare archaeological finds. On the other side of the grounds, bamboo surrounds a chapel to create a place quiet meditation. I'm sure this place is beautiful and I don't want to give it a bad review but I went to visit it today and I was as surprised as angry at the entrance because on Google Maps, we aren't informed that this garden is closed during some months of the year. The times of opening are correct though. I will visit it again hopefully someday and I advise people who want to visit it to check if it's open before going there. However, the views of Lake Como from Bellagio are also amazing, but I don't think it's worth visiting Bellagio without visiting I Giardini di Villa Melzi.
