Passadicos do Paiva, Arouca

Beautiful trail. Wide, comfortable and excellent wooden walkways. Driving to the trailhead from Porto was a fun experience of its own. Parking was a little tight, but the staff was omnipresent and helpful at either side of the trail. Wonderful swimming hole at the halfway point. The trail also boasted clean bathrooms, 3 well-equipped concession areas, small suspension walkway and the largest suspension walkway. While we didn't walk across the giant bridge, it was still a site to behold.

Great trail for all of the family but bear in mind that there are sets of stairs that are challenging to overcome. Better to go in the spring, with the river full of water, less heat and a misty and cloudier atmosphere. Take water. Minimum services at the ends and in the middle. In the end, easy transfer by road to the origin. Great views and a beautiful beach at midpoint. The river is wild at spots and languid in several sectors. Very green.
