The Gothic- and Moorish-styled chambers, cloisters, and hallways of Convento de Cristo reflect the era of the Templars, Knights of the Order of Christ, and lavishly dressed royals. Meticulously crafted over the course of centuries (since the year 1160), the convent was adorned with extensive wall art, decorative windows, extravagant tiles, colorful gardens, and complex ornaments from top to bottom. Walk through its tall rooms and seemingly endless labyrinths of hallways, and view the Romanesque church, filled with Gothic paintings, gargoyles, and religious sculptures. Outside, explore the gardens filled with trees, flowers, arched passages, fountains, and tombs. Fantastic place to visit. A huge erstwhile convent, with high quality renaissance buildings, wonderful ceiling painting, beautiful cloisters, dormitories, kitchens and dining halls. There are also beautiful gardens. There has been good past renovation and this is still on going. We spent several hours there in a family group aged 4 to 67 and all enjoyed it. Good café with refreshments available. Small high quality gift shop.

Amazing place to visit in Tomar. That's a very ancient castle built by templars, and it's huge with a lot of sightseeing spots on the valley below. Totally recommend to go, although bare in mind that you may loose some time in finding a parking spot: it's usually pretty crowded during the summer, and you'll need to pay a small parking bill (1.2€ for one hour and a half)
