Strategically situated on a cliff above the confluence of two important rivers, Devin Castle bears evidence of prehistoric settlements as well as Roman and medieval ruins. The fortification walls encircle a landscape of open courtyards, staircases, and towers in uneven states of repair. Look for the small watchtower called the Maiden Tower balancing on a sole rock. Legend has it that many imprisoned lovesick daughters plunged to their deaths from this tower. See the foundations and the tiny model of the first Christian church north of the Danube. The castle houses a museum exhibiting archaeological objects and offers a range of outdoor activities, such as boat rides, hiking trails, and horseback riding. The upper castle has been closed to the public since 2008, due to reconstruction. Worth going, but catch the local bus from the Quay. Only 20 minutes at the most. 1 Euro. Lovely trip, get to see local area. Then get ready for the climb. Stunning views. First thing we did on...

I passed this on the water during a boat ride. It looked awesome. They said it was very old and marked the end of the nations territory. It has a great location and looked very imposing.

Devin's Castle, in itself, is not much. You come here for the view. Oh, the view! A 20 minutes drive out of Bratislava, you can feel the freshness in the air and silence all around. There is a €3 ticket for the visit, but that is completely justified. Outside, you will find a vending machine with souvenir golden coins for €2. There are a few shops and restaurants. I highly recommend a visit, preferable during spring. You will not regret it.

Must visit if you are in Bratislava and have some extra time. A small hike would lead you to the castle or the remains of the castle. The view from the top is brilliant as you can see the Danube flowing on one side and the other side overlooks the mountainous terrain and you can also see beyond the border of Slovakia towards Austria. Serene place and is usually less crowded. The ruins are untouched and you can get a free entry with the Bratislava card or pay 6€ per adult if you don't have the card.
