The Trenčín Synagogue is a building in the city of Trenčín in Slovakia.
The Jewish population of the city was around 2000 members. In 1913, the Jewish community built the building on the site of a previous wooden synagogue from 1781.
In 1941, it was damaged by the Slovak Hlinka Guard.
After the war, the building became property of the state and was used as a storage facility. Jews from the city prayed in a room nearby. It was renovated at the end of the 70's and is now a cultural center.

  • Went here and it was shut. Not sure why... Building looks OK from the outside... Not sure of inside. Bit concrety for my liking.

  • The Synagogue was closed when I visited. I read that it's only opened at restrictive times. From the outside,it looked badly in need of some TLC. I also looked through one of the windows and it looked derelict.
  • I believe the architect must have had a lot of fun designing this building. It is so full of small details, arched windows that can be seen through arched spaces seen through actual arched entrances etc. The building is visibly in disrepair. The Jewish community is very small and demographically on a steep decline.
