Walk the steep climb or take a funicular to reach Ljubljana Castle on the top of the hill, offering panoramic views of the Old Town. We visited mid-day in late April and a lot of the rooms were closed. The most interesting part of the was the ride on the funicular up/down. Nice view over Ljubljana.

The old castle above Ljubljana from the middle ages. Nicely restored. Gives great panoramic view over the city of Ljubljana. Lots of cultural events there and a good permanent exhibitions. A nice 10 minutes walk to the hill or few minutes drive with a cart from the old city centre. A must see touristic sight of Ljubljana.

We have visited many castles around Europe but there were excellent audio guides available for a small fee. Also a number of other well laid out and presented displays. The view was fabulous on the day we went. I am sure there will be lifts etc. for less able visitors but they were not obvious. A lot of spiral stairs but worth the effort. The combined castle and funicular was good value.
