The most visited church in Sweden, Lund Cathedral represents an excellent example of Romanesque architecture with many historical features. The cathedral was founded in 1080 in Lund, a significant religious and cultural city during the Middle Ages. Today over 700,000 people visit the church each year, for both worship and general tours. Enter the building to view several interesting features in its interior, including the cathedral's choir stalls and Gothic altarpiece dating back to the 14th century. Look for the centuries-old tower bells; one was created in 1513. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Lund holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Lund Cathedral and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

A little Swedish wonder. I enjoyed everything in this cathedral: the historical context for its building (the artificial creation of several bishops to gain the autonomy against the archbishop of the Hanseatic league), the sculptures on the stalls, the crypt and its couple of evil giants turned into stones, the permanent clock, etc.

It was a great experience to see one of the oldest buildings still in use in Sweden and is home to several historic furnishings and works of art! It is in the centre of the city, close to many restaurants and cafés. There is no entrance fee to enter the Cathedral, but you could buy brochures or guided tours! Don't miss the astronomical clock that dates from around 1425. It displays signs of the zodiac and the phases of the moon!
