Stroll below a romantic canopy of trees at Kungsparken, a sprawling 19th-century park. The 8.4 hectare (21 acre) site was inhabited until the 1660s but then cleared to make way for the neighboring military protection. In 1869-1870 the park was built, complete with a cast-iron fountain at the center, plus expansive flower beds, playgrounds, and a windmill. The verdant paths are home to 120 different species of trees, as well as local wildlife. Pack a snack or a picnic blanket for a relaxing retreat. Amazing park, clean and quiet. You can walk, sit, by boat, enjoy the grass, pass bridges. Right in the city center.

Lovely place for a picnic. We visited on a rainy day and was able to find a dry spot under a tree. Kids loved playing in the playground.
