The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.

Shop till you drop at Vienna Naschmarkt and Xocolat. Get in touch with nature at Nationalpark Thayatal and Biospharenpark Wienerwald. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Vienna: Nationalpark Neusiedler See – Seewinkel (in Illmitz), Wachau Valley (in Joching) and Nationalpark Donau-Auen (in Orth an der Donau). There's much more to do: take a stroll through Graben and Kohlmarkt, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Cathedral, shop like a local with Mariahilfer Strasse, and explore the fascinating underground world of Allander Tropfsteinhohle.
