Island of the Gods

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Family-friendly places like Seongsan Ilchulbong and Udo will thrill your kids. Get out of town with these interesting Jeju side-trips: Seogwipo (Cheonjiyeon Falls, Jeongbang Waterfall, &more). The adventure continues: Head underground at Manjanggul Cave, take in nature's colorful creations at Jeju Kimnyoung Maze Park, walk around Hallim Park, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Gwaneumsa Temple.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Jeju is an approximately 9-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Jeju. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sat) so you can fly to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Bring the kids along to Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach. Step out of Busan with an excursion to Beopgi Fountainhead in Yangsan--about 48 minutes away. Getting from Jeju to Busan by flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, and train. Expect a daytime high around 22°C in April, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can drive to Gyeongju.

Museum Without Walls

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
On the 3rd (Wed), get engrossed in the history at Shilla Arts and Science Museum, then steep yourself in history at Bulguksa Temple, and then pause for some photo ops at Seokguram. Keep things going the next day: snap pictures at Woljeonggyo Bridge, examine the collection at Gyeongju National Museum, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond.

Getting from Busan to Gyeongju by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Busan in May: highs in Gyeongju hover around 18°C, while lows dip to 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) to allow time to fly to Seoul.

One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Gyeongbokgung Palace and N Seoul Tower. Pack the 8th (Mon) with family-friendly diversions at Lotte World. There's much more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Changdeokgung Palace, examine the collection at National Folk Museum of Korea, get a taste of the local shopping with Namdaemun Market, and wander the streets of Myeongdong Shopping Street.

Traveling by flight from Gyeongju to Seoul takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. When traveling from Gyeongju in May, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Seoul: temperatures range from 28°C by day to 16°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) early enough to fly back home.

A popular vacation island for Koreans and foreigners with a mild coastal climate, Jeju-do offers hiking, caving, horseback riding, and plenty of beaches on which to relax and observe the sunset. A holiday in Jeju-do usually involves a visit to a UNESCO-protected lava tube, where you can see the world’s largest known lava column. Other lava and limestone caves set in botanical gardens, as well as a number of folk villages, combine to offer a diverse range of attractions during treks through the densely forested island, with the well-marked hiking trails also leading past giant basalt statues. Inland theme parks--ranging from a teddy bear museum to an erotic sculpture park--and golf courses provide a diverse range of entertainment options. The matriarchal island is known for its fisherwomen and female divers.
