York — 1 night

York is the oldest inland town in Western Australia.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Sun): relax and rejuvenate at The Lotus Day Spa And Retreat and then take some stellar pictures from Mount Brown Lookout. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the landmark architecture of York Courthouse Complex, see the interesting displays at York Motor Museum, and then admire the striking features of York Town Hall.

To see maps, where to stay, traveler tips, and other tourist information, you can read our York trip planner.

Perth to York is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. In December, daytime highs in York are 37°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive back home.

Avon Valley is predominately a national park that encompasses the majority of the land around the Avon River. The river makes the area very fertile, even so it has remained sparsely populated and was named a national park in 1971. There you'll find over 90 species of birds and countless types of wildflowers, including banksia (aka dryandras), donkey orchids, and leschenaultia. Camping facilities are well maintained, and hiking trails are well marked.
