Broome — 2 nights

A relaxed town of tree-shaded streets and scenic coastal stretches, Broome gained renown as a center of the pearling industry in the late 19th century.
Broome is known for wildlife, beaches, and nature. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: tour the pleasant surroundings at Cable Beach, take an in-depth tour of Broome Historical Museum, don't miss a visit to Entrance Point, and look for gifts at Uniquely Broome.

Sydney to Broome is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. The time zone changes from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) to Australian Western Standard Time (AWST), which is usually a -2 hour difference. Expect much warmer weather when traveling from Sydney in August: highs in Broome hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Tue) so you can travel to Purnululu National Park.

Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
On the 16th (Tue), get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour and then take in the dramatic natural features at The Gap and Natural Bridge. On the 17th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: see the interesting displays at National Anzac Centre, walk around Albany Heritage Park, and then make a trip to Padre White Lookout.
