The fourth-largest city in South Korea, Daegu sprawls out across a wide, flat valley overlooked by a sacred Buddhist mountain.

Get out of town with these interesting Daegu side-trips: Gyeongju (Seokguram, Bulguksa Temple, &more), Haeinsa (in Hapcheon-Gun) and Goryeong-gun (Goryeong Daegaya Historic Site & Daegaya Museum). Spend the 3rd (Sat) exploring nature at Gayasan National Park. There's still lots to do: browse the eclectic array of goods at Seomun Market, take a peaceful walk through Daegu Arboretum, go for a walk through Wolgwang Waterfront Park, and stroll around Apsan Park.
