Budapest — 15 nights

Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Let the collections at House of Terror Museum and Egri Road Beatles Museum capture your imagination. Get some historical perspective at Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika). Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Eger (Kovacs Nimrod Winery, Sike Winery, &more), Mor (Csabi Miklos' Cellar & Geszler Family Winery) and Szechenyi Zsigmond Hunting Museum - Hatvan (in Hatvan). The adventure continues: contemplate the long history of Matthias Church, appreciate the history behind Shoes on the Danube Bank, view the masterpieces at Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria), and explore the world behind art at Museum of Applied Arts.

Amman, Jordan to Budapest is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Eastern European Standard Time (EET) to Central European Standard Time (CET) is minus 1 hour. Traveling from Amman in June, things will get a bit cooler in Budapest: highs are around 30°C and lows about 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Pecs.
