Budapest — 26 nights

Pearl of the Danube
You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.Change things up with these side-trips from Budapest: Castle Hill (Veszpremi Varhegy) (in Veszprem), Mor (Csabi Miklos' Cellar & Geszler Family Winery) and Eger (Kopcsik Marcipania Szamos edessegbolt, Visitor's Centre of the Eger Archbishop's Palace, &more). There's still lots to do: ponder the world of politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, steep yourself in history at Széchenyi Thermal Bath, admire the striking features of Matthias Church, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).
For maps, where to stay, ratings, and other tourist information, refer to the Budapest journey planner.
If you are flying in from Spain, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 13°C.
