Gangneung — 4 nights

A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Chodang Sundubu Village and Jumunjin Lighthouse. Take a break from the city and head to Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch and Yeongjin Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Gangneung side-trips: Donghae (Chuam Beach, Mukho Lighthouse Park, &more), Sokcho (Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory & Geumganggul Cave) and Goseong-gun (Cheonjin Beach & Bongpo Beach). There's much more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Uisangdae, take in the waterfront at Jumunjin Breakwater, get outside with Sacheonjin Beach, and kick back and relax at Gangmun Beach.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
