You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
For shopping fun, head to Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria) or Vaci Street. Museum-lovers will appreciate House of Terror Museum and Koller Gallery. There's lots more to do: test the waters at a local thermal spa, get a dose of the wild on Hungarianbirdwatching.com Day Tours, steep yourself in history at Heroes' Square, and make a trip to Fisherman's Bastion.

Amman, Jordan to Budapest is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Eastern European Standard Time to Central European Standard Time, which is usually a -1 hour difference. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Amman in June, with highs in Budapest at 30°C and lows at 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Debrecen.

Debrecen — 10 nights

Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary after Budapest. Appreciate the collections at Sosto Museum Village and Museum of the Reformed College of Debrecen. Get a sense of the local culture at Agora Science Center and Reformed Church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Debrecen: Atlantika Water Park (in Vasarosnameny), Nyiregyhaza (Nyir Plaza, Co-cathedral of Our Lady of the Hungarians, &more) and Nine-holed Bridge (in Hortobagy). Spend the 27th (Mon) exploring nature at Hortobagy National Park. There's still lots to do: indulge in some personalized pampering at Aquaticum Medicinal and Thermal Baths, hunt for treasures at Debrecen Market, identify plant and animal life at Pusztai Allatpark, and admire the landmark architecture of Main Building of University of Debrecen.

Traveling by car from Budapest to Debrecen takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In June, daytime highs in Debrecen are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Wed) early enough to drive to Kecskemet.
