Byron Bay — 3 nights

Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Byron Bay: Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre (in Murwillumbah) and Tropical Fruit World (in Duranbah). There's still lots to do: paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, hike along Cape Byron Walking Track, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, and let little ones run wild at Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens.

To see other places to visit, photos, more things to do, and tourist information, read Byron Bay planner.

Sydney to Byron Bay is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Plan for little chillier nights when traveling from Sydney in September since evenings lows in Byron Bay dip to 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Tue) to allow time to fly back home.
