Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Visit Capela das Almas and Rua das Flores for their historical value. Step off the beaten path and head to Beer Tastings & Tours and Quinta dos Corvos. Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at FC Porto Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja do Carmo, do a tasting at Graham's Port Lodge, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral).
