At stately Chatsworth House, experience British royal life in the countryside. The historic 16th-century home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire sits on 405 hectares (1,000 acres) of manicured parkland in the heart of the scenic Peak District. Of the house's 126 rooms, you can visit 30. You'll see lavishly decorated interiors and many works and ancient artifacts that are part of a significant art collection from around the world. Watch animal demonstrations in the farmyard, such as cow-milking and chick-hatching, and wander around the sculptures, waterfalls, fountains, and hedgerow mazes in the 42.5 hectare (105 acre) garden. The house also hosts temporary exhibits, so check the program before visiting. Great place to visit especially if the weather is good. Lots of places to take a stroll and view. The house itself has plenty to see inside and includes a gift shop at the end. Plenty of parking. Some very nice flowers if you go at the right time too with vibrant colours. It's a well looked after place. Highly recommended and very relaxing.

We visited the gardens for a family day out with our dog, and we all had a wonderful time. The gardens are huge and amazingly well maintained. There are lots of varied and interesting areas to explore, such as the stunning rockery, the maze, and even an old coal tunnel. The surrounding landscape is gorgeous as well. The facilities available in the gardens are reasonably good. Toilets, a shop, and some refreshments are available near the entrance. The refreshments are quite pricey, but that's probably to be expected. The water features unfortunately weren't running when we visited due to low water levels. It didn't detract from the overall experience though. I'm sure we'll be back again in future. I don't think it's possible to fully appreciate everything in a single visit.
