Learn about the rich, bloody, and important history of this ancient castle, originating from 1093. Explore inside Pembroke Castle and have the scenes from its past brought to life by the castle’s exhibitions. Sculpted figures, sets, lighting, and a triggered audio sequence recreate scenes of interest, including a medieval banquet, the birth of King Henry VII, and a bloody Civil War battle between Cromwell’s troops and Royalists. Explore the labyrinth of passageways and towers, and take in the views from the 23 m (75 F28ft) Great Keep. Peer down into the medieval basement dungeon and spot the Pembroke “prisoner.” Enrich your understanding with a guided tour, available for a small fee. These need to be pre-arranged in low season, but they leave at scheduled times the rest of the year. Buy your tickets to Pembroke Castle in advance from their website to avoid queuing on the day. Went for my wife's birthday, had a guided tour by a lady called sue , she was brilliant, really got us into the history of the castle, spent most of the day there, nice Cafe and displays. You can climb the tower and go down to the cave, really good day out. My kids really enjoyed it too, I've an eight year old girl and a ten year old boy.

A large and amazing castle, one of the most complete and best preserved in the country. We visited on a horrible, wet and windy day, yet there is so much still complete that we hardly needed to go outside in order to be able to spend a fascinating afternoon looking around. There are a series of interesting exhibitions and video presentations, telling the story of the castle and also of the local volunteer regiments in the British Army. Well worth a visit.
